Jersey is easy to care for and does not wrinkle. Thanks to the small amount of added elastane, the jersey fabric will keep its shape and not stretch out—while retaining the good qualities of cotton.
It is ideal for casual wear, dresses, children's clothing, T-shirts, sportswear, as well as hats and scarves.
Tips for sewing:
When sewing with cotton jersey, it is recommended to use Jersey or Stretch needles if the jersey is very stretchy, it is recommended to use Super Stretch needles, which are specially designed for elastic fabrics. These needles have a rounded point, which allows them to glide easily between the jersey fibers without damaging the fabric. Needle size usually depends on the fabric thickness, but for cotton jersey, commonly suitable sizes are 70/10 or 80/12.
