Satin is a fabric woven in a satin weave with a glossy, smooth face and a matte back. The best qualities of this fabric are a pleasantly soft texture, easy drape, and easy care.
The light sheen makes the fabric more elegant and attractive, so this fabric is most often used for sewing refined garments; it is therefore an excellent fabric for making dresses, skirts, and corsets.
This fabric is perfect for tunics, blouses, fine shirts, vests, even airy garments and nightwear. Satin is also used for various home decor items, such as curtains, chair covers, and tablecloths.
It does not contain elastane and therefore does not stretch.
