SCHMETZ DPx5 LL are industrial sewing machine needles for leather with a LL (Twist) point shape. The lens-shaped cross-section and a notch at ~135° angle to the thread direction create very straight, slightly recessed seams without leather tears. The chrome coating reduces wear and overheating, ensuring long service life in intensive work.

🧶 Thread recommendations (for leather)

Choose thread thickness according to seam type and leather thickness; for thicker leather – larger needle and thread size.

• Decorative/topstitching: polyester or polyamide ~tex 75–150 (No. 20–8) with needle NM 120–160
• Medium seams: polyester ~tex 50–75 (No. 40–30) with needle NM 110–140
• Extra durable seams in high-wear areas of shoes (e.g., heel zone): polyester ~tex 60–75 with needle NM 110–160

ℹ️ Useful note

If an identical seam appearance is required on machines with the hook positioned to the left of the needle, use the related point LLCR. For standard equipment, LL provides a very straight seam.
